We continue to support researchers through digital documentation of both wet and dry gels.

Our photographers have the expertise to digitally document all manner of gross specimens in our facility or any location throughout AHSC, whether animal, vegetable or mineral. Our mobile photography unit features color balanced lighting for epi- and/or transillumination, as well as the option for full cross-polarization of your specimens. Please call ahead of time to schedule an appointment.

Images captured from film or print scans and digital cameras may require basic image enhancements to achieve optimal quality, like cropping, sharpening, tonal and color corrections. Or you may require more advanced digital manipulation to meet your specific needs, like portrait retouching, restoring old photographs, introduction of false color, perspective changes, polarization. We have the ability to do all of these, and much more.

We utilize a professional-level Epson 4000 inkjet printer to produce high quality photographic prints from your digital files. This printer produces a higher resolution print than our poster printer, and the price is considerably less than our Fuji prints described above. This printer utilizes Ultrachrome inks for excellent stability and longevity. For best results, scan your raster images as close to the final size on the page as possible, preferably at 200dpi. For example, if an image is to appear 4"x5" on the page, scan it to 4"x5" @ 200dpi. Digital cameras should be set to a larger file size to assure good image quality, especially when requesting prints over 5x7 inches.

This specialty of patient photography involves photographing a complete series of the patient's body under strict conditions in our studio. Each photograph digitally records the sizes and locations of every mole, which will be used as a baseline for future photographs of that patient. We will be offering this service in the very near future.

All of our passports and applications are taken digitally. You will be able to choose from the shots taken immediately after the session, and the prints will be ready within a short period of time. For anything other than a passport, please provide us with the specifications required and we will match them. Please make an appointment in advance.

Our medical photographers are fully qualified to photograph patients for teaching, research and medical-legal purposes. All images are captured digitally in our fully equipped studio or in a variety of hospital settings (e.g., clinic, ward, operating room, etc.).

There are a number of different ways that image compositions may be achieved. The two most common are to add descriptive labels (e.g., arrows and text) to one or more images, and to position multiple images together in some meaningful arrangement (e.g., multiple grouped portraits, a block of individual pictures in a group, etc.). We are skilled at creating these effects digitally on our computer workstations.

Our Fuji Pictrography printer utilizes a thermal dye transfer process to create high resolution grayscale and color prints from your digital files. Unlike consumer inkjet prints that show distinct dots, these prints are near photographic quality. Individual pixels are very difficult to see, even under magnification. The images produced are fade-resistant similar to traditional color photographic prints. For best results, scan your raster images as close to the final size on the page as possible, preferably at 320dpi. For example, if an image is to appear 4"x5" on the page, scan it to 4"x5" @ 320dpi. Digital cameras should be set to a larger file size to assure good image quality, especially when requesting prints over 5x7 inches.

We provide formal, business, group and environmental portraiture in our studio or on location. Most portraiture is performed digitally for quick access to proofs and final prints. However, we can also use film in certain circumstances. You are encouraged to make an appointment in advance to avoid scheduling conflicts. Please read "Getting Ready for Your Portrait" to help you prepare.

Poster printing is one of our most popular services. If you are designing your own poster, rely on our knowledgeable photographers to give you useful advice early in the design phase to make sure the final print meets your expectations. Our Epson 10600 is very fast, with a turnaround time of one day or less. It utilizes Ultrachrome inks for excellent stability and longevity. We print on a semi-matte paper to reduce reflections, the paper thickness is substantial to minimize kinking when handling, and we can print up to 44 inches by whatever length you need. A tough vinyl material is also available for those who require it up to 42 inches by whatever length.

We stock cardboard and expandable plastic poster tubes for mailing and/or hand carrying to help you get your poster safely to its destination. To help hang your poster, we carry Velcro and plastic tab fasteners. We can also add grommets to vinyl posters.

35mm through 4x5 slides and negatives. Our skilled photographers are able to digitally capture most slide and negative film formats up 4x5 inches with a stable of slide scanners. Whether you need high resolution scans to be used in publications, low resolution scans for web or Powerpoint use, or you are converting all of your slides to digital for some future use, we have the knowledge and hardware to satisfy your needs.

Radiographic films. Our large radiographic scanner has the ability to cover up to a full chest film, capturing the subtleties of original's image. Although radiographic imaging technology is moving quickly to digital formats, we continue to offer this service for clients that continue to access film-based archives.

2-dimensional originals, small-to-oversize. We have two ways to digitally capture your flat copy originals. Originals up to 8½x12 inches are scanned on flatbed scanners. Larger pieces are copied with a high resolution digital camera in our photo studio.
